Proposed Data Layout

The data model and its mapping to netcdf are currently under development and refinement. The latest document can be found here (last modified 11/19/08 5pm). There are still outstanding issues regarding support for corners and edges.

An alternative (but similar representation) that conforms to the evolving UGRID specification is provided as a cdl document.

Striped Data Layout with Neighbor Lists

This data originally provided by Randall et al at CSU. Neighbors and CF grid conventions have been added.

Morton Ordered Data Layout with Neighbor Lists

The following files show the grid layout that will be used for output. The grid is written using a morton ordering scheme. Click on the image to zoom in for full detail or view the kmz file in google earth.

Sample output from Ross's Hydrostatic Model

This data is from the 10th day of a hydrostatic run. It contains grid data from both alternative data model as we evolve our thinking on the best model.

Sample output from Ross's Multi-level Grid code

This sample is from CSU's Mult-level grid code. This code generates only two variables: alpha and beta. They are 3d but you won't see much (any difference) in vertical values.
